Sauerbraten – Herta Gehmlich
Brown roast beef all over in hot pan.
Add: about
1 cup water
1 bay leaf
1 bay leaf
salt and pepper
2 peppercorns
2 peppercorns
1 carrot, diced
1 onion, quartered
1 stalk celery
¼ cup vinegar
¼ cup vinegar
¼ cup sugar
Cover and simmer 2 hours.
Remove from heat and let sit over night in cool place.
Reheat and simmer 1 hour.
Remove meat to platter. Cover with foil
Make gravy with liquid.
